Minnetrista Farmhouse
Minnetrista, Minnesota
This crisp white farmhouse replaced a walkout rambler home on a small farm site in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
The house is positioned among a group of existing buildings: a small existing barn, a garage, a workshop and several sheds, all of which encircle a green commons. Its gabled entry faces the commons to the west, and a low roofed porch wraps around three sides of the home, gathering breezes and providing summer shade on the open, sunny site. Within the house, intimately scaled rooms gather about a twisting central staircase on all three floors. A sheltered nook for a reading chair, a window seat nestled next to the fireplace, and a tiny meditation space at the very peak of the roof, provide spots for privacy and quiet reflection.
