Hoke Residence
Marine on the St. Croix, Minnesota
Sitting in the woods above the St. Croix river, this home began as a rustic cabin. The challenge to the architect was to maintain the low profile and original street facade, while doubling the livable space. The solution was to excavate below the existing structure, and to extend only one portion of the cabin. Large overhangs, stonework and exposed timbers rejuvenate the rustic legacy of the original cabin.
Designed by Katherine Hillbrand.
