Riverhouse
Black River Falls, Wisconsin
This home has a linear plan that aligns with an ancient native-American footpath along the banks of the Black River in Wisconsin. Two elongated forms, one for sleeping, the other for entertaining family and friends, overlap at the entry and are joined together by a circulation spine with a clerestory above that brings natural light to both the living and sleeping pavilions. A screened room at one end extends living out into the landscape while at the opposite end, glass walls surround the couple’s bed summoning the landscape into the room. The house interacts with its setting in every room. Floor elevations match grade reinforcing this sense of connection. See alternate interior image.
