Causey Residence Addition
St. Paul, Minnesota
As well as having an incompatible 1970's kitchen, this 1915 Prairie Style home was hampered by a stair landing that functioned as a mudroom, and a wooded backyard that was essentially hidden from the kitchen. A small addition provided just enough space to create a large eating nook and space for a mudroom. Separating the mudroom with a change of level instead of walls allowed views and natural light while hiding clutter from the kitchen. Decorative lighting that was found in the attic was restored and located over the booth and mudroom.
Designed by Joseph G. Metzler with Ken Zehoski.
