Deb Kees, AIA

Deb’s past work includes residential and accessory-building projects of all scales, both new construction and renovations.  She believes each project is a collaboration between the owner and architect.  Her practice implements small interventions and honest use of materials to create dramatic impacts on space.  Deb prioritizes the longevity of individual spaces and the communities in which they exist by using existing infrastructure, giving importance to building orientation and site placement, preserving the landscape, and incorporating materials that compliment each project and the people they serve.

Deb joined SALA Architects in 2001 and became an associate in 2006.  Deb received her undergraduate degree in Communication and the Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she was awarded the Sydney Morris Scholarship in Environmental Design. Deb received her Masters degree from The School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where her work was published in Calibrations: The Wisconsin Journal of Architecture. Deb recently collaborated with Michaela Mahady to create Cottage Living Magazine’s 2006 Idea Home built in Evanston, Illinois, featured in Cottage Living magazine’s October 2006 issue.

She is a licensed architect in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.
